The detail

In Spring 2010, I led the design work for the Metro's iPad app - one of the first iPad national newspaper apps to be available in the UK. I also acted as project manager as part of my Service Design Lead role at Fjord.

Based around the concept of a living newspaper, it combines live digital news into a dynamic paper-like experience. The app's design facilitates both 'news focus' areas, and a headline browsing, 'news snacking' front page – allowing people to simply let what appeals to them catch their eye - just as they would with a print newspaper.

The app also makes great use of the expanded screen space and function that the gesturing and multi-touch facility offers on the device. For example, viewers are able swipe between individual headlines and full stories with a single finger but also move through the paper's sections using a dual finger swipe.
