The detail
As one of the finest department stores in the world, and with a reputation as offering an extraordinary shopping experience, any digital commerce proposition for Selfridges & Co would need to be very special indeed.
The challenge offered to my team was to follow in the selfridges tradition of providing an entertaining, exclusive, online retail experience that was at the same time 'Open to all' (Early Selfridges trademark).
I worked with a large internal operations team throughout the concepting and design phases to produce a prototype ready for a major round of user testing. As well as user and business demands, the design was also expected to help define the major warehousing, fulfilment and delivery strategies that were being developed concurrently.
The objectives for the user-centred design were to provide a unique online experience - that would not only set new standards in e-commerce usability but also meet the high expectations of the selfridges customer.
